This winter Kolkata would experience the convergence of stalwarts from music, art
& literature at the 40th International Kolkata Book Fair
Dear friends of media,
Only a day remains before the inauguration of the 40th International Kolkata Book Fair 2016.
In the last Press Conference we had informed you about some programs of the upcoming Book Fair. Let us tell you now about the other events to be held during the Fair
On 29th January there will be Special session by French author Abdourahman Waberi. There will also be fascinating New Circus organized by Alliance Francaise at the Fairground.
On 31 January 2016, Children’s Day will be celebrated in the fairground. Free Books will given to the children and different competitions will be organized on that day.
Bangladesh Day will be celebrated on 2 February 2016.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held on 7 February 2016
Gate No 1 of the International Kollkata Book Fair 2016 will be the Theme Bolivia Gate.
Through Gate No 4, we will pay our homage to Nobel Laureate Gunter Grass, who visited the Book Fair in 2005 and to R K Laxman.
Now about one of the major attractions of the International Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Literature Festival.
The 3rd Kolkata Literature Festival will be inaugurated on 4 February 2016 by Ashoke Vajpeyi, Sanjib Chattopadhyay and Amol Palekar.
The inauguration will be followed by the session ‘Intolerance in Tolerant India’ in which with Ashoke Vajpeyi and Sanjib Chattopadhyay, Tridip Shurud and Kavita Panjabi will join as panelist.
Eminent young authors, Durjoy Datta, Preeti Shenoy, Novoneel Chakraborty and Sumrit Shahi will be present in the session christened as ‘Spin A Young — Challenges of Contemporary Writing’.
The Third Option: Badal Sircar and his theatre—, the session designed for discussion on the dramas of Badal Sircar by Amol Palekar, Anjum Katyal and Ananda Lal.
Following this, Kunal Basu, Barun Chanda and Iftekar Ahesan will share their thoughts on Kolkata — A Pleasure in Pain.
The noted blind story teller Giles Abbot from UK will be present on the evening of the 4th at the Kolkata Literature Festival.
The first day of the KLF will comes to a close with ‘The Strings of Harmony’ where we will have Amaan Ali, Ayaan Ali and Pt Tanmoy Bose.
As the Kolkata Literature Festival will draw closer, we will intimate you with other attractions.
